Longyou black pig is one of the excellent local pig breeds in Zhejiang Province. It is known as a "national treasure" because of its delicious meat, unique taste, and high nutritional and health care value. Longyou black pigs are medium to small in size.
The head shapes are divided into two types: lion head and mouse head. The weight of an adult boar is about 98Kg, and that of a sow is about 80Kg. The first litter will give birth to 8 to 9 piglets, and the third litter and above will give birth to 12 to 13 piglets. Moreover, Longyou black pigs have the characteristics of early weaning and early fat deposition in piglets. However, they are small in size, grow slowly, and have low feed utilization.
