The red-eared bulbul is a bird with non-red ears, medium-sized (about 20 cm). They have a very unique appearance, with the black hair crown standing high on their heads, like wearing a tall hat, so they are also called high-crowned bulbuls. The feathers on the back of the neck, back and upper tail are brown, and the tail is dark brown. The cheeks and throat are white, the lower body is almost white, the sides are light brown or light smoky brown, there is a wide dark brown horizontal band on both sides of the chest, and the lower tail coverts are bright red, very beautiful!
The red-eared bulbul likes to perch on prominent objects and often stands on the highest point of a small tree to sing or chirp. Chirping. It likes open forest areas, forest edges, secondary vegetation and villages. Distributed in southeastern Tibet, southern Yunnan, southern Guizhou, southwestern Guangxi, Guangdong, as well as India, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Indochina Peninsula.
