The lungs can arise from primary lung tumors, metastatic tumors, lymphomas, and tumors of adjacent tissues. Most primary lung tumors are malignant.
Causes of Lung Tumor In Dogs
Lung is the main site of metastasis of malignant tumors in other tissues. Most primary lung tumors originate from epithelial cells, that is, adenocarcinoma. Most lung tumors can cause cough in sick dogs, which is caused by compression or obstruction of the bronchus and inflammation caused by secretion retention in the related areas of the lung lobes. Malignant tumors may erode vessel walls and allow blood to flow into the trachea and lung parenchyma. Tumor tissue can cause damage and loss of function in the lungs. The lesions are extensive, and loss of lung function can lead to difficulty breathing.Dog Lung Tumor Symptoms
The primary tumors often showed cough, while the secondary tumors mainly showed cough and dyspnea. Extremely malignant tumors can be found in young dogs, but lung tumors are usually a disease that occurs in middle-aged to old dogs. "The clinical symptoms are progressive and are characterized by weight loss, limp, pain, and edema of the limbs, which may be the result of bone disease due to pulmonary hypertrophy."Diagnostic criteria For Lung Tumor In Dogs
X-ray examinationPrimary tumors forming a single mass can often be distinguished from complete lobar consolidation. Intrapulmonary metastasis can be seen in primary lung tumors, and nodules exist in other lung lobes. Secondary tumors often give rise to multinodular structures of varying sizes. The growth of new bone in the periosteum along the diaphysis of long bones, especially at the end of the limbs, can be diagnosed as hypertrophic pulmonary osteodystrophy.
Bronchoscopy
Large tracheal compression or obstruction may be seen on bronchoscopy. Blood-colored mucus in the trachea is also a sign of a tumor.
A thoracentesis or bronchoscopic biopsy can also be performed to obtain a diagnostically significant sample to confirm the diagnosis.
