The umbilical cord of a kitten will usually fall off automatically or be licked off by the mother cat around 5 to 7 days after birth, so the owner generally does not need to help the kitten deal with the umbilical cord. But sometimes special circumstances may arise.
If the umbilical cord still does not fall off a week after the kitten is born, the owner needs to carefully observe whether there is any redness or swelling around the kitten's umbilical cord. If any abnormality is found, it is recommended to take the kitten to the pet hospital for examination in time. After the kitten is born, the owner should not touch the kitten's umbilical cord out of curiosity to avoid causing infection in the kitten.
