The fire snake is a kind of snake that lives in southern China. It is also called the red snake. Its body averages about 1 meter in length and is usually gray-brown or black in color with obvious russet spots.
The head is triangular, with larger eyes and longer fangs. This snake species plays an important role in nature as it is a major food source for creatures such as mammals, amphibians and birds. Although the fire snake is venomous, its venom is not fatal and in most cases only causes local pain and swelling. People should avoid contact with wild snakes in their daily lives to prevent accidental injuries.
