Sulcata has not had acid excretion for ten days

Pet Question

The Sulcata turtle is a common pet aquatic turtle that eats mainly plants. If the sulcata turtle does not excrete acid within ten days, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

Unbalanced diet: The sulcata turtle needs to consume enough fiber and plant protein. If the diet is biased toward animals, Plant foods that are low in protein or fiber can slow down intestinal peristalsis and affect defecation. It is recommended to increase the intake of plant foods for Sulcata turtles, such as lettuce, spinach, carrots, etc.

Sulcata has not eliminated acid for ten days

Lack of water or water temperature is too low: Sulcata turtle needs sufficient water to maintain normal metabolism of the body. If the aquatic turtle lacks water or the water temperature is too low, it will affect the normal work of its digestive system and thus affect its defecation. It is recommended to replace the water with fresh water every day and keep the water temperature at about 25℃.

Poor environmental conditions: Sulcata turtles need a dry, warm, and quiet environment to stay healthy. If the environmental conditions are poor, such as insufficient light, low temperature, noise interference, etc., it will affect the function of the turtle's digestive system.

If your sulcata turtle does not excrete acid for a long time, it is recommended to seek medical treatment in time and ask a professional veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment.
