The German Hunting Terrier is bred from the Fox Terrier and the ancient black and red British rough-haired terrier. The body coat color is black, and brown is generally limited to the feet, hindquarters, cheeks, above the eyes, the inside of the ears, and the base of the tail. The color distribution is similar to that of the Doberman. Other coat colors include dark brown, brown, brown, red and mouse gray with stripes.
