Colorful Munnia's head colors mainly include black head, red head, and yellow head. Black head is a sex-linked recessive inheritance, and the gene is located on the sex chromosome X; red head is a sex-linked dominant inheritance, and the red head gene is also located on the X. On the chromosome; the yellow head gene is located on an autosomal chromosome and is recessively inherited, but it requires at least one X chromosome containing the red head gene for it to manifest.
If a black-headed bird also contains a pair of autosomes carrying the yellow-headed gene, then the tip of its beak will be yellow and only contain one with the yellow-headed gene. If the autosomal chromosome of the yellow head gene does not contain one, then the tip of its mouth will be red. This kind of bird matures relatively quickly, but usually can only breed after moulting.
