There are two main reasons why a newborn kitten won’t suck milk. One is that it is too young to suck milk. As long as the cat’s mental state is okay, this is normal. The owner can open the kitten’s mouth. When you reach around the female cat's nipples, the kitten will open its mouth to suck milk after smelling the slightest breath. Secondly, it may be that the kitten is physically weak and does not have the strength to breastfeed. In this case, you can try feeding the kitten by gavage.

1. Can’t suck

Newborn kittens may not be able to find the mother cat’s nipple. At this time, you can touch the kitten’s mouth to the mother cat’s nipple to let The kitten takes the initiative to suck on the nipple for a period of time, and gradually it will take the initiative to nurse. In addition, if the kitten does not take the initiative to nurse for a day, the owner can prepare goat milk powder and feed it to the kitten to prevent the kitten from malnutrition due to long-term lack of milk.

2. Weak constitution

Some kittens will not eat milk because of their weak constitution. If the kitten does not receive milk for a long time, it will easily lead to death. . Therefore, at this time, it is necessary to artificially feed the kitten. You can choose goat milk powder and small bottles specially designed for pets. Mix it with hot water and then feed it. You need to feed the kitten in small amounts many times to avoid indigestion in the kitten.

Note: When kittens are artificially fed, since they do not have the ability to defecate on their own, you need to use a cotton swab dipped in warm water and gently wipe the anus of the kitten to stimulate defecation. In addition, because kittens are too small and cannot regulate their own body temperature, they need to be kept warm to prevent colds and diseases.
