Pet Knowledge
This article is provided by Veterinarian Dr. Chloe Johnson
If the owner wants to shave the dog by himself, he can follow the steps of grooming, bathing, fixing the dog, starting shaving, and protecting the dog. But owners should also note that except for problems caused by some diseases, it is best not to shave the dog, because shaving the dog's hair will reduce the resistance of the dog's skin and make it easy to suffer from skin diseases. There are also some dogs that are completely shaved. Afterwards, I will feel depressed and may not eat or go out.

1. Combing hair

Before shaving a dog, the owner must first comb the dog's hair to remove dust and dead hair from the hair. This can be done from head to tail, from top to bottom. Work your way down, from neck to shoulders, then brush the limbs and tail.

2. Take a bath

After combing the dog, the owner can give the dog a bath, so that it will look better when shaving. It should be noted that when bathing your dog, you need to use a pet-specific shower gel. After washing, you also need to dry the dog's hair in time to prevent the dog from catching a cold.

3. Fix the dog

Because some dogs are more resistant to shaving, it is best to use two people when shaving the dog. One person is responsible for holding the dog. One person performs the pruning.

4. Start shaving

After the two steps of combing and bathing, the owner can officially start shaving the dog. First, you need to use scissors to cut the dog's hair short, and then use a pet-specific shaver to shave the dog. Note that when shaving, it is best to shave in the direction of the dog's hair growth, so as not to cut the dog's hair. The skin is injured. In addition, when shaving, you need to leave a little hair, and do not shave close to the skin to avoid damaging the dog's skin or hair follicles, resulting in no hair growth in the future.

5. Protect your dog well

After shaving, the dog will lose a layer of protection, so the owner should pay attention to protecting the dog, especially the dog. When the dog is taken out and played in the grass, the dog is easily bitten by some parasites because it has no hair on its body, so it is best for the owner to wear some clothes for the dog. If the dog is shaved because it has been infected with a skin disease, it is not recommended to put clothes on the dog, otherwise it will aggravate the condition.
