If the cat's eyes only shed a small amount of brown secretion, it is normal, but if there is excessive brown secretion, it is abnormal. It may be caused by foreign body stimulation, improper diet, eye inflammation, etc. At this time, you need to take the cat to the pet hospital for examination. First, analyze the cause of brown discharge from the cat's eyes, and then treat it accordingly to avoid delaying the condition.

1. Foreign body irritation

If dust, pollen, hair and other foreign bodies accidentally enter the cat's eyes, the foreign bodies will continue to irritate the eyes and cause the cat to shed tears. In this regard, the owner can gently open the cat's eyes to check. If foreign matter is found, the cat's eyeballs can be flushed with saline or eyewash to flush out the foreign matter. If the foreign body cannot be flushed out, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to the pet hospital for further treatment in time.

2. Improper diet

If the food the cat eats is too high in oil and salt, it will cause brown secretions in the eyes, and over time, tear stains will form. If this is the case, the owner should adjust the cat's diet in time and pay attention to the light diet. It is best to replace the cat with ecological cat food with low oil and salt content. Never feed the cat human food. Help your cat clean up the secretions from its eyes.

3. Eye inflammation

If the cat’s eyes are not only discharged with brown discharge, but also accompanied by symptoms such as red eyes and inability to open the eyes, then the cat’s eyes should be considered. Inflamed. In this case, you first need to use anti-inflammatory eye drops for treatment, then analyze the cause of the cat's eye inflammation, and then take targeted treatment to eliminate the cause. If the eye inflammation is caused by foreign body irritation, in addition to treating it with anti-inflammatory eye drops, you also need to flush the foreign body out with physiological saline. If your cat is infected with a pathogen that causes eye inflammation, it is recommended to take the cat to a pet hospital for examination and treatment immediately.
