The main causes of convulsions in puppies include excessive exercise, fright, calcium deficiency, heat stroke, poisoning, epilepsy, encephalitis and other reasons. When a puppy has convulsions, the owner should remain calm, place it in a comfortable environment in time, and avoid contact with objects that may cause harm. At the same time, observe whether the puppy has other symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, etc., in order to more accurately determine the cause of the disease. After the convulsions stop, the puppy should be taken to the pet hospital for professional examination and treatment as soon as possible.

1. Excessive exercise: Excessive exercise may cause muscle strain or body dysfunction in puppies, leading to convulsions.

2. Frightened: Puppies may be frightened by hearing sudden sounds or encountering other things that scare them, showing symptoms such as body stiffness and twitching.

3. Calcium deficiency: If the puppy’s diet lacks calcium, or its rapid growth leads to an increase in calcium demand, convulsions may occur.

4. Heatstroke: In a hot environment, puppies may suffer from heatstroke symptoms, including convulsions, because they cannot effectively dissipate heat.

5. Poisoning: Puppies may accidentally eat toxic substances, such as pesticides, rat poison, etc., resulting in convulsions and other poisoning symptoms.

6. Epilepsy: This is a common neurological disease that may cause repeated convulsions in puppies. Epilepsy may be caused by brain tumors, cerebral hemorrhage, or subarachnoid hematoma.

7. Encephalitis: Usually caused by viral infection, the virus can damage the puppy's nervous system, causing symptoms such as convulsions and disturbance of consciousness.

In addition to the above reasons, puppy convulsions may also be related to other diseases or conditions, such as hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia, canine distemper, canine heartworm infection, etc. It is recommended to go to a pet hospital in time. The veterinarian will formulate an appropriate treatment plan based on the puppy's symptoms and examination results to help the puppy recover to health.
