Pet Knowledge
This article is provided by Veterinarian Dr. Michael Jackson
Cats that keep rolling may be because they are in estrus, so they roll on the ground to attract the attention of cats of the opposite sex. Secondly, it may be that the cat is itching on its back, so it keeps rolling around to relieve the itching. In addition, when a cat wants its owner to pet it, it will keep rolling around and act coquettishly. In this regard, owners can peel off the cat's hair and check to see if there are symptoms such as skin redness, hair loss, dander, etc. If so, they should consult a pet doctor in time for medication. If the cat does not show any discomfort, it is a normal physiological and behavioral reaction, and the owner does not need to worry too much.

1. Estrus period

Usually, cats will go into estrus in spring and autumn every year. When cats are in estrus, they will roll around, howl in the middle of the night, and want to go out. At the same time, the female cat will go out. There will be secretions flowing out of the genitals, and male cats will behave like riding astride and urinating indiscriminately. If you want to solve the problem of a cat in heat, you can take it to breed or undergo neutering surgery.

2. Itching on the back

If the cat suffers from skin diseases or is infected with parasites, or has wounds and scabs on the back, they will keep rolling around due to severe itching. to relieve itching and discomfort. In this regard, the owner can carefully check the cat's body to see if there are any wounds, parasites, or skin diseases. If a wound is found, it needs to be treated promptly. If parasites are found in feces, you need to deworm them in time, and if you have skin diseases, you need to consult your pet doctor for medication.

3. Acting coquettishly

If the cat keeps rolling around and exposes its belly to the owner, it may be acting coquettishly to the owner, hoping that the owner can play with it. At this time, the owner can interact with the cat more, such as hugging, stroking, scratching the chin, touching the cat's head, etc. This way, the cat's coquettishness will be responded to, and the relationship between the cat and the owner will be increased.
