Cat hiccups accompanied by symptoms like vomiting may be caused by eating too fast or too much, foreign body obstruction, gastrointestinal problems, diaphragm spasm, colds or allergies, chest deformity, etc.

1. Eating too fast or too much:

When a cat eats too fast or too much, it may inhale air into the stomach, causing hiccups. It is recommended to control the cat’s eating speed and amount, use a slow food bowl, and avoid feeding too much at one time.

2. Foreign body obstruction:

If the cat accidentally eats hair, wool and other foreign bodies, it may block the gastrointestinal tract and cause hiccups. It is recommended to feed an appropriate amount of hair removal cream or cat grass to help the cat expel foreign matter from the body.

3. Gastrointestinal problems:

If there is too much gas in the cat’s gastrointestinal tract, it may be caused by eating gas-producing foods or gastrointestinal diseases. Appropriately adjusting the diet formula, avoiding giving the cat too much miscellaneous food, or feeding some probiotics can help improve the hiccups.

4. Diaphragm spasm:

Diaphragm spasm may cause cats to hiccup. In these cases, cats usually also show other clinical symptoms, such as loose stools, diarrhea, and decreased mental appetite. If you suspect the cause of diaphragm spasm, please seek medical treatment promptly.

5. Colds or allergies:

When cats have a cold or are allergic to certain substances, they may also experience hiccups. Check your cat promptly for signs of a cold, and pay attention to whether your cat is allergic to certain foods, cat litter, or other substances.

6. Thoracic deformity:

Underdevelopment or deformity of the cat’s thorax may lead to deformation of the esophagus, causing abnormal hiccups. If you suspect this is the case, please take your cat to the doctor for examination promptly.

When dealing with cats’ health problems, breeders cannot use medication without authorization, and must follow the recommendations of veterinarians. If your cat's hiccups persist or worsen, take her to your veterinarian for examination and treatment as soon as possible.
