If a cat eats too little or too much, it may be caused by picky eating, heat, illness, etc. First of all, if the cat is in a normal state of mind and has no other abnormalities, it is most likely caused by picky eating and eats less. The owner can mix some of the cat’s usual favorite foods into the cat’s food, so that the cat will take the initiative to eat up the cat’s food. Secondly, if the cat has not been neutered and is accompanied by howling and urinating in the middle of the night, it may be caused by estrus, which is normal. Finally, if the cat eats very little and is accompanied by listlessness or other abnormalities, it is likely that the cat is sick and needs timely medical attention.

1. Picky eaters

If the owner usually gives the cat a lot of snacks, it will easily cause the cat to be picky and not like to eat cat food. To improve the cat's picky eating, the owner can put a small amount of the food that the cat usually likes to eat into the cat food and mix it evenly, so that the cat will take the initiative to eat all the cat food. And for such picky cats, it is recommended to purchase full-price cat food directly. Full-price cat food is rich in nutrients that cats need in their daily lives.

2. In heat

If the cat has not been neutered yet, it may be in heat if it suddenly eats very little. However, in this case, the cat will usually urinate randomly and howl in the middle of the night. , want to go out. This is a normal phenomenon. Owners can use catnip to relieve the cat’s mood and promote the cat’s appetite, or they can breed the cat in time or perform sterilization surgery.

3. Sick

If the cat eats much less than normal and is accompanied by mental decline or other abnormalities, the cat may be sick. For example, if the cat has oral ulcers that cause pain when eating, gastrointestinal diseases, parasite infection, etc., you need to take the cat to the pet hospital for examination in time to determine the specific cause and then treat it accordingly.
