Especially some thirst-resistant dogs will not take the initiative to drink water unless they feel particularly thirsty. Secondly, because dogs have a very sensitive sense of smell, when the water quality is poor or has a peculiar smell, it may also cause them to not drink water. In addition, if the dog also shows abnormal symptoms such as depression, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., it indicates that the dog is sick and is unwilling to drink water because of physical discomfort. It is recommended to take the dog to the pet hospital for examination in time to determine the specific cause. Finally, use corresponding drug treatment.

1. Dogs are not thirsty or do not like to drink water

Some dogs do not like to drink water. Unless they are particularly thirsty, they will not drink water. In addition, if the dog's usual food contains high water content and the water intake is sufficient, the dog may not drink water because he is not thirsty.

If you want the dog to drink water, the owner can give the dog the water left after cooking the chicken breast. Do not add salt. You can also mix it with an appropriate amount of pet-specific goat milk powder to avoid the dog drinking. Dogs may suffer from internal heat, dry stools, constipation, etc. because they drink too little water.

2. The water quality is poor or has a peculiar smell

Dogs have a very sensitive sense of smell. If the owner does not change the water for a long time, the dog will not drink the water if it is of poor quality or has a peculiar smell. . Therefore, owners must prepare clean and hygienic drinking water for their dogs, and pay attention to changing the water for their dogs regularly.

3. The dog is sick

If you find that the dog does not drink water for a long time, and also has symptoms such as listlessness, loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea, it is very serious. Maybe the dog is sick. First of all, if it is a puppy or a dog that has just been brought home, then the main considerations are parvovirus, canine coronavirus infection, canine distemper and other diseases. Secondly, if you have been vaccinated, it may be caused by serious diseases such as acute gastroenteritis and acute pancreatitis. In addition, older dogs may also be caused by diseases of the kidneys, liver, etc.

Therefore, once a dog is found to have the above abnormal symptoms, the owner should immediately take the dog to the pet hospital for examination to determine the dog’s illness before treating the dog.
