Bloodshot eyes in dogs may be caused by trauma, causing capillaries to rupture and bleed. Secondly, it may be that the dog has been irritated by foreign objects such as dust, hair, shower gel, etc., causing congestion. In addition, if the dog suffers from eye diseases, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc., symptoms such as eye congestion, watery eyes, and increased eye secretions will also occur. If the owner cannot judge by himself, it is best to take the dog to the pet hospital for examination and treatment in time to avoid delaying the condition.

1. Trauma

If a dog’s eyes suffer trauma, such as impact, fight, car accident, etc., causing capillaries to rupture, congestion will occur. It is recommended that owners consult a pet doctor promptly to see if the degree of injury to the dog’s eyes requires surgical treatment. If there is only slight congestion, it is recommended to use pet-specific anti-inflammatory eye drops for eye treatment, and at the same time, some blood-activating eye drops need to be used together. If your dog's eyes become blind after congestion, it is recommended to undergo surgery in a timely manner.

2. Foreign body irritation

Dogs’ eyes are relatively sensitive. If dust, hair, shower gel and other foreign bodies accidentally enter, the foreign bodies will continue to irritate the eyes and cause congestion. At the same time, the dog will continue to scratch its eyes and shed tears. In this regard, the owner can gently open the dog's eyes to check. If foreign objects are found, the dog's eyes can be rinsed with saline. Generally, the dog can recover on its own after the stimulation is removed.

3. Suffering from eye diseases

If the dog not only has bloodshot eyes, but also has symptoms such as inability to open the eyes, watering eyes, increased eye secretions, and photophobia. , then it is likely to be caused by eye diseases such as conjunctivitis and keratitis. At this time, it is recommended that the owner take the dog to the pet hospital for examination in time to find out what is the specific cause, and then treat it with symptomatic medication.
