If it is a false pregnancy, hormone disorder in the body, breast tumor, etc., it is recommended to seek help from a professional pet doctor for targeted treatment.

1. Breeding

After the female dog is successfully bred, the mammary glands will also develop accordingly, so the breasts will be swollen and the nipples will be protruding. This is normal. It is recommended that owners replenish their dogs with the nutrients they need in a timely manner to ensure their dogs’ health during pregnancy.

2. False pregnancy

If the dog has not mated but still has swollen breasts, it needs to be considered a false pregnancy. During pseudopregnancy, dogs may experience pregnancy-like symptoms such as swollen breasts. Usually, a dog's false pregnancy will subside on its own after 2-3 weeks. If the dog's false pregnancy lasts too long, you need to consider whether it is a problem of thyroid degeneration and take the dog to the pet hospital for examination in time.

3. Hormone disorders in the body

Hormonal disorders in dogs can also cause breast swelling. Breast development occurs due to the stimulation of progesterone produced in the dog's body, resulting in breast swelling.

Breast tumors can also cause breast swelling. You can first observe the shape, size, color, and quality of the breast area.
