If a cat doesn't eat, its limbs are limp and unable to stand up, it may be caused by poisoning, hypoglycemia, dehydration, etc. It means that the cat is now in a very weak state. If the cat does not eat for a long time, the cat may become increasingly weak and even endanger the cat's life. The owner can first feed the cat some goat milk powder or glucose to allow it to regain some strength, and take measures to keep warm, such as wearing clothes or putting a hot water bottle, and then take the cat to the pet hospital for treatment in a timely manner.
1. Poisoning
If a cat accidentally eats something that poisons it, such as chocolate, grapes, pesticides, dead rats that have been poisoned, etc., they will suffer from appetite loss. Abuse, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, fainting and other phenomena may eventually lead to shock and death. If the cat is found to have signs of poisoning, it is recommended that the owner consult a pet doctor in time, first give the cat emergency vomiting treatment, and then immediately send the cat to a pet hospital for gastric lavage, enema, infusion, etc. At the same time, in order to prevent cats from being poisoned, it is recommended to keep relevant toxic items away.
2. Hypoglycemia
If a cat has insufficient nutritional intake for a long time or has a low body temperature, it can easily cause hypoglycemia, especially in young cats. The main clinical symptoms include not eating, low energy, and limp limbs. When you open the cat's mouth, you will find that the oral mucosa is pale, the blood returns slowly after pressing, and the conjunctiva of the eyes will be pale. In this case, the owner can feed the cat some high sugar to reduce the symptoms of hypoglycemia, and then take the cat to the pet hospital for a blood biochemical test to confirm the diagnosis, and check for the original disease and actively treat it.
3. Dehydration
When a cat is particularly dehydrated, it may not eat, have limp limbs, and cannot stand up. Common causes of dehydration in cats include severe diarrhea, vomiting, long periods of not drinking water, hot weather, etc. At the same time, dehydration in cats can also cause symptoms such as reduced skin elasticity, sagging, and sunken eyes. Since long-term dehydration is more harmful to cats, it is recommended that owners take their cats to the pet hospital for examination in time to find out the cause of the cat's dehydration. If dehydration is caused by vomiting or diarrhea, it is best to replenish water through infusion in time.
