Cats that eat and drink normally but sneeze and shed tears are considered to be caused by foreign body irritation, allergies, colds, nasal congestion, etc., and need to be improved through general treatment and medication. If it is irritation from a foreign body, it is a normal physiological phenomenon and can be rinsed with water to clean the foreign body without special treatment. If it is an abnormal phenomenon and is accompanied by symptoms such as shortness of breath, sneezing, coughing, etc., active and effective treatment will help control the condition and reduce damage to the eyes and nasal cavity after the disease. If the condition is more serious, it is recommended that the owner take the cat for medical treatment.

1. Foreign body irritation

If the nasal cavity and eyes are irritated by foreign bodies, symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes may occur. Generally, normal eating will not be affected, and the nasal cavity needs to be properly prepared. As well as eye care, rinse with running water and generally no special treatment is required.

2. Allergies

Usually caused by exposure to allergens or eating allergic foods, symptoms such as shortness of breath, skin itching, redness and swelling, and sneezing may occur. The phenomenon of watery eyes usually does not affect normal eating and drinking. It needs to be improved by taking antihistamine drugs as directed by your doctor.

3. Colds and colds

Usually caused by being exposed to rain or not drying your hair after taking a bath. When the body is stimulated by the cool wind, a cold will occur. Symptoms such as increased tears, sneezing, and coughing may occur, but they will not affect eating and drinking. You need to take anti-cold medications as directed by your doctor.

4. Feline rhinotracheitis

It is an acute infectious disease with strong upper respiratory tract infection in cats. It is mainly caused by feline rhinotracheitis herpes virus infection, which passes through the respiratory tract and digestive tract. After being infected, symptoms such as tears, sneezing, and elevated body temperature will appear. Most cats will not have a loss of appetite and can be treated with antiviral drugs under the guidance of a doctor.

During the treatment period, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to the hospital for regular check-ups to understand the specific conditions of disease recovery, otherwise it will affect the recovery of the disease.
