Long, clear mucus flowing from the dog's mouth may be caused by heat dissipation, improper diet, oral disease, etc. First of all, when the surrounding temperature is too high or the dog has just exercised, it will open its mouth and drool to help dissipate heat. This is a normal phenomenon. Secondly, if the dog accidentally eats irritating items such as chili peppers and disinfectant, the mouth will be stimulated and saliva will be secreted. Finally, dogs suffering from oral diseases such as stomatitis, periodontitis, and oral ulcers will also suffer from the above conditions, and they need to consult a pet doctor for drug treatment.

1. Heat dissipation

Because dogs do not have sweat glands on their bodies, when the surrounding temperature is too high or they have just undergone strenuous exercise, they will dissipate heat by opening their mouths and tongues, resulting in mouth opening. A condition in which long, clear mucus flows. As long as the dog has no other abnormalities, don't worry too much. Take the dog to a cool and ventilated place to rest, and give him an appropriate amount of water to help dissipate heat.

2. Improper diet

If the dog accidentally eats hot peppers, disinfectant water and other irritating items, the mouth will be stimulated to secrete saliva, and it will also be accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea and other symptoms. The owner can first recall whether the dog has been fed any irritating food and observe the dog's condition. If the dog does not appear abnormal, there is no need to worry too much. You can feed some probiotics and plenty of water to relieve the irritation. If the dog develops abdominal pain, diarrhea and other abnormalities, it needs to go to the pet hospital for treatment immediately.

3. Suffering from oral diseases

If the dog’s mouth is leaking clear and long mucus, it is also accompanied by poor energy, difficulty eating, pink ulcers on the inside of the mouth, and bad breath. , suddenly drooling a lot, etc., it is likely to be suffering from oral diseases such as stomatitis, periodontitis, and oral ulcers. In this case, you need to consult your pet doctor promptly to treat the inflammation with medication.
