Causes of manic dogs

This article is provided by Veterinarian Dr. Lucas Davis
Dog mania may be caused by estrus, stress response, body pain, rabies and other reasons. First of all, when a dog is in heat, it will become agitated under the influence of hormones in the body, and will also make a cry similar to a baby. Secondly, when a dog is frightened or changes to a new environment, it will protect itself in this way because it does not feel safe. Furthermore, when dogs are in pain, they will become sensitive and irritable in order to prevent others from touching their painful parts. Finally, if the owner does not vaccinate the dog against rabies, the dog will suddenly become manic when it has rabies.

1. In heat

When dogs are in heat, they will have symptoms such as being irritable and restless, barking in the middle of the night, male dogs will urinate everywhere, and female dogs will have bloody secretions from their vaginas. This is a normal phenomenon. If the owner wants the dog to breed offspring, he must arrange time for breeding. If you do not want your dog to breed offspring, it is recommended that your dog be neutered as soon as possible.

2. Stress response

When a dog is frightened or changes to a new environment, it will become aggressive in order to protect itself because of a lack of security. Because the dog's mood is relatively manic at this time, it is not recommended that the owner approaches the dog easily. The owner can let the dog stay in a corner by itself first, and then try to approach the dog after the mood stabilizes.

3. Body pain

When a dog is injured or in pain due to disease, the dog will also become manic due to physical sensitivity, and will also be accompanied by listlessness, Symptoms include loss of appetite and reluctance to move. Therefore, it is recommended that owners pay attention to observation. If they find that their dogs have the above symptoms, they should go to the pet hospital for examination and treatment in time.

4. Rabies

When a dog suffers from rabies, it will also suddenly become manic, and it will also be accompanied by symptoms such as drooling, photophobia, water fear, attacking people, and general convulsions. If the dog is found to have the above symptoms, the dog needs to be isolated in time and the relevant departments should be notified for handling.
