There are two main reasons why cats purr loudly: physiological and pathological. The physiological reason is mainly because the cat breed is a short-nosed cat. Due to the special structure of the nasal cavity, it is easy to purr. Also, because cats are overweight, fat is easily accumulated in the respiratory tract, which hinders the cat’s normal breathing, so it purrs loudly. The pathological cause is mainly considered to be respiratory tract infection, which leads to nasal congestion, which in turn causes increased breath sounds and a snoring sound. Timely medical treatment is required.

1. Breed reasons

Some breeds of cats are prone to purring due to their naturally short nasal cavities, such as Garfield cats, Persian cats, etc. This is caused by their unique biological characteristics and cannot be changed, so pet owners need not worry.

2. Too obese

If the cat is too obese, the fat in the body will accumulate in the upper respiratory tract, making the air circulation channel narrower, so the respiratory mucosa will tremble. It will cause snoring. Therefore, if the cat is really too obese, it is recommended that the owner lose weight as soon as possible, reduce the amount of food fed, strictly follow the principle of "eat less and eat more", and appropriately increase the cat's amount of exercise.

3. Respiratory tract infection

If the cat purrs loudly and is accompanied by other abnormal symptoms, such as runny nose, sneezing, coughing, increased eye and nose secretions, etc. , it means that the cat may be infected with respiratory diseases, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, etc., and the cat should be taken to the pet hospital for examination and treatment in time.
